Sea Kayaking Trips

The great thing about sea kayaking trips is you get to see areas of the coastline that are normally inaccessible. However, what kayaking craft you use will depend on where you are actually taking your trip. The kinds of kayaks that they use for warm waters are different from those, which are used where it is cold.

Many of the kayaking trips in locations such as Belize, Fiji or the Caribbean will use sit on top kayaks. Although you will end up with a great tan on your legs at the end of the trip, it also makes it far easier for you if and when the kayak tips over. All you need to do is flip the craft back over then climb back on to it.

However, if your trip is going to be in places like Canada or Alaska then safety is a major issue. For these trips, your kayak will come with a cockpit in which you sit and which a spray skirt covers over to prevent water actually gaining access into the hull of the kayak.

In order to propel the kayak along you need to be moderately fit and certainly have upper strength in both your arms and shoulders. Remember it is these which will be pushing the paddles through the water to help propel the kayak forward and also to help you slow down and stop. But as you will soon discover after carrying out a few sea kayaking trips time can soon slip by without you realizing it.
